The Skin edit

Does your mirror ever scream at you?
Not too long ago a shriek of terror bellowed at the blemishes forming on my chin and cheeks. I looked closer at my pores in a panic.
Was this dehydration? Did I need to detox? What could the culprit be?!
If you’re like me you’ve had your breakouts and bad skin days. What I woke up to that day was a mix of stressors and adult acne. That was the problem!
Instead of panicking, I got to work clearing up my canvas. I needed to reverse the curse on whatever was plaguing my face. So I was off to find the products that would save me!

I overhauled and organized my skincare routine, to a more thorough process I now adhere to daily.
This wasn’t just a new routine but a change in my way of thinking about skincare.
I’ve always been a makeup girly even before my makeup artist days. Ironically though, my skin had always been something of an afterthought, silly I know!
But when you get to be in your mid-twenties something in the chemistry starts to change. So I had to meet that change with a few key ingredients…
Okay! Let’s backtrack a little.
You’ve heard me mention that skin is a canvas. This isn’t a new concept, rather it’s the truth. Much like a canvas, which artists use to fill in their colorful ideas, our skin is the base for every product we apply.
We must protect what represents us and keep it happy. I do this with my new and improved, morning and evening skin-care routines!

You must find which formulas and steps work for you. My preference is to use products that contain things like Hyaluronic Acid. Which hydrate my oily-combo skin
As an aside, I'd recommend finding out which type you are before moving forward. There’s so many resources out there including tons of YouTube vids about determining your type!
The “Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream | Peter Thomas Roth” works for me.
Only after cleansing and toning my skin of course!
I’ve noticed a reduction in puffiness, my pores are noticeably smaller, and my skin feels smooth over all after PTR.
It's key to prep the skin for the nutrients to work their best magic.
I’ll follow the toning process with a spritz of Facial Spray - Aloe, Herbs, Rosewater | Mario Badescu. The aloe gives a cooling and calming feeling to the skin.
Then a serum or two! There are different serums for every need. Ones which contain antioxidants, vitamin D, those that reduce fine lines, or blemishes. They’ll help you feel good and put your best face forward!
I’m currently using the Milk Drops Ceramide Serum (beekman1802.com). It's derived from root extracts! This along with their use of goat milk gives the skin a natural glow from within. If you can’t find this product anymore, try Beekman’s other products containing Lithospermum Erythrorhizon Root Extract (antiviral x anti-inflamatory) and Angelica Gigas Root Extract (good for repairing skin cells and detoxing).
I’ll follow up with "The Beauty Elixer Collagen & Retinol Anti-Aging Facial Serum". Collagen is a key ingredient here and is a great preventative for wrinkling skin. Known for reducing fine lines this product not only works but smells and feels amazing. Retinol is also a gentle exfoliating ingredient, giving one a refreshed look.
The reason I like going in this order is because I want the products to work their hardest for me, as recommended by dermatologists. If I were to apply moisturizer first I'd block key benefits from penetrating top layers of the skin.
Moisturizers are good for locking in serums and lighter hydrating formulas.

When I wake up now my skin isn’t yelling at me looking for hydration and nutrients. Taking care of my epidermis is second nature now and it should be for all of us no matter what canvas we start with. Of course all of this isn’t to say that staying hydrated and eating the right things won’t help, they will. But we should be working from the inside out and the outside in!
Don’t worry darlings, whatever state your skin journey is in, you’ll find what works best for your situation. Bobbi Brown said it best: “Look the best where you are”.
These are a few products that have helped my skin glow up!
They could help you too!
